People may experience a period of grief after a significant loss.  There is no set pattern, time or severity, everyone experiences grief in their own way. Shock, disbelief, confusion, anger, yearning, guilt and fear are all common reactions to loss and part of the grieving process.  

Palliative care refers to the goal of care. It means that the focus of care changes from cure to care.
